EXCLUSIVE: Another “Dublin UFO” Hoax Underway Against the Media?

YouTube Preview Image

Who’s Pranking Whom? Why Ireland and Why Triangular UFOs?

AUSTIN - It’s like déjà vu all over again … remember back in October 2008 when we broke the story of how someone in Ireland’s media had been convinced that a then recent UFO sighting flap (which featured an apparent triangle ufo with a red laser caught with cellphone video footage) was connected to this amazing footage of a triangle ufo with red laser darting about but which turned out to be reused footage of an award winning model from a UFO hoax contest? Well it appears that someone has yet again pulled the wool over the media’s eyes.

I was just made aware of some “dramatic new triangular ufo footage” and as soon as I saw it I recognized it as something I’d seen just a few months ago in October 2009 when I was researching the ufo videos of Ed Grimsley who claims to witness ufo battles complete with lasers and explosions using only a pair of expensive nightvision goggles. Yet none of his footage is anywhere near as interesting as this “new” triangular footage which happens to apparently use this same type of green-tinting night vision tech

FremontTriangleDecember2008aThe video I saw in October of last year was allegedly “filmed 12/5/08 in fremont, ca.” and uploaded to YouTube the same day by someone who appears to own a pair of the goggles and/or collects footage of nightvision anomalies. Yet the online news reports and bits of information offerred so far contradict that stating…

A triangular formation of lights was filmed flying at night at “incredible speed”.
Sighting near the River Liffey in Dublin.

One has to wonder, who got this misrepresentation of the footage started? Was it deliberate or could it just be a simple case of a news editor / web manager posting an interesting accompanying video that looks like what was described but which apparently has absolutely nothing to do with the “new” alleged Dublin sighting?

So far a handful of newsites has been taken in by this “hoax” or misidentification / miscommunication. But the list is growing everytime I check:

Doctor’s Office Hit By Meteorite

I love stories like this. Things falling from the sky like bullets from God. Thankfully these projectiles didn’t hit any human targets.

Reminds me of that great song by DEVO called Space Junk.

- SMiles

“Loud. Loud enough [that] you could hear it, maybe, a block or two away,” recalls Reese. “I’m surprised it didn’t break our glass. That’s how loud it was.”

Something had come hurtling out of the sky, and crashed through the roof of a nearby doctor’s office, landing in an empty examination room.

“I thought something fell in Dr. Gallini’s office,” explained his partner, Dr. Frank Ciampi. “I thought a bookshelf fell on him, so I ran out and saw that he was okay. And then I looked to the left and saw the debris in the hallway.”

The debris was smoldering and metallic. The two physicians puzzled over the items. Whatever had come through the roof had broken into several pieces. The two doctors speculated that part of an airliner had come off and fallen through their roof. A nearly circular hole was punched through the building’s roof.

An acquaintance suggested the possibility of a meteorite, so the debris was sent to the Smithsonian’s Natural History Museum in nearby Washington, D.C.

Spectacular Aerial Display Over Norway on Eve of Obama’s Nobel Prize Visit

On the eve of Obama’s Nobel Prize acceptance visit, a mesmerizing white spiral vortex, accompanied by a beautiful blue plume, has been recorded and reported by numerous sources across Norway. Amazing pictures are pouring in as well as several videos that are going viral as we type this message.

The aerial occurrences are getting lots of discussion across the internet. Could this stargate-like display be connected to the Large Hadron Collider? Is it a dimensional doorway into other realms? Is it a publicity stunt presaging the arrival of President Obama?

So far the consensus seems to be it is the result of a failed Russian missle test - which Russia has now confirmed.

The pictures which show the most distinct spiral form, at first seem to be the most likely to have been photoshopped. Yet there are already scientifically modelled cgi videos that would seem to vindicate the spirals plausible rocket science origins.

In fact the photos and video footage seem very familiar and after doing a little scroogling yesterday afternoon I found the footage which was causing my pseudo-Déjà vu:

UFO – Spiral Slips out of Wormhole in Tomsk Russia

It seems that a very similar phenomenon was recorded and similarly swept the net by storm just a few years ago. The footage was allegedly from Tomsk in Russia circa either 2006 or 2007. Speculation then as now was that this was a Russian missile test. That appears to be the most sound explanation so far with the Norway Spiral.

Here is another video which seems somewhat suggestive of rocket test and is apparently from Toe’s Beach in Playa del Rey, California (the earliest upload date I’ve found is 2006):

YouTube Preview Image

Russian rocket / missile tests have a long history of connection to modern UFO reports. UFO researcher Jacques Vallee and UFO skeptic James Oberg have both written about this subject, showing that the Kremlin (like its American counterparts) has often utilized UFO reports as cover for covert weapons testing and deployment – sometimes even in violation of international treaties.

It all kind of reminds me of the Babylon 5 Jumpgate graphics…

Military Indoctrination of Youth in America

Air Force Recruitment Bus for Elementary School Kids

afrsbus

Last week I got quite a shock on my way out from my day-job’s parking garage. What should be staring straight at me but a big new bright blue U.S. Air Force recruitment bus. It was parked right alongside Waterloo Park on Trinity Street where many visiting tour buses park temporarily while their occupants generally tour the Capitol complex which is two blocks west of (behind) this camera shot. But I’m not used to seeing military recruitment buses among the tour-busloads of folks who are usually either an elderly lot or bunch of school kids (often dressed up in matching colored shirts to more easily spot them in a crowd). So I snap a picture of the bus and proceed on my way …

Only to be shocked and disturbed by what I next see now that I can peer around the other side of the bus. Waiting to get on the bus I see a group of African-American elementary school aged kids all dressed in Gitmo-Orange T-shirts getting onto the bus. I’m shocked! Several thoughts and questions flash through my head: “Surely this isn’t a field-trip from an ELEMENTARY SCHOOL?! Surely no school working with kids as young as that would allow their kids to be ferried to the State’s Capitol, to see our seat of government up-close, in a military recruitment limo?!”

Lunch Menu Review – Serranos at Symphony Square – Chicken and Cheese Enchiladas

Mind Meld With Miles Over Migas!

Still no migas… but this time our review is at least TexMex.

serranosLunch Menu Review – Serranos at Symphony Square – Chicken and Cheese Enchiladas

serranossymph31Another extremely hot day downtown at lunch time this Summer. A few days into this Summer heat wave and I found myself eating at an outside venue that’s always been of interest to me. I’d run an errand in the car yet ended up dining at a locale nearby to where I work; definitely within walking distance lying at 1111 Red River Street. I found a nice shady spot in one of the two small parking lots across Red River from the restaurant.

Despite having beaten the crowds and having the whole interior to myself I chose to brave the incredible heat and sit outside at one of the metal patio tables under a red-canopied umbrella. No one else joined me outside for lunch.

More Serranos @ Symphony Square

The friendly waiter took my order: Chicken Enchiladas lunch special – one of their “5 LUNCH SPECIALS for 5.99″ … a good deal featuring two delicious verde-sauced enchiladas stuffed with juicy chicken with sides of Spanish brown rice and a cup of charra beans. I love their frijoles a la charra! Very savory. They come with a small topping of melted cheese on top. Complimentary chips and salsa, as it should be. A very good menu for very little money. My only criticism would be the waiter should have been more attentive to my aquatic needs on such a sweltering day; he never refilled my glass (which I finished very quickly) or asked if I’d like more water.

Ufologist Richard Hall has died

hallrecent

Richard H. Hall

(December 25, 1930 – July 17, 2009)

On Friday I learned of the death of UFOlogist Richard Hall by way of an email sent from Jerome Clark through the UFO UpDates eList:

I have just received word that veteran ufologist Richard Hall,
who was both a friend and hero to me, died this morning of the
cancer he had been fighting.

Ufology has lost a giant.

Jerry Clark

ufoupdateslist.com/2009/jul/m17-001.shtml

Richard Hall was a very significant researcher and historic advocate for rational and scientific investigation of the UFO phenomenon. He was rather unflinchingly anti-paranormal and rejected the works of two of my favorite UFO researchers, Jacques Vallee and John Keel.

Falling on the heels of John Keel’s passing and the tributes to his work and falling within the slew of other “celebrity” deaths of late Hall’s passing perhaps signals that we are indeed moving into new ufological territories bereft of some of our best travelling companions and guides…

rhandkeyhoe2I never met or corresponded with John Keel but I did have the opportunity to meet and interact with Richard Hall at least a few times. At my first big UFO conference experience in 1992, at the annual MUFON symposium (that year’s was in Albuquerque, New Mexico) I found myself in line at the bar with Richard Hall. I struck up a conversation and immediately planted my foot deeply in my mouth by accidentally disrespecting him and obviating my lack of historical ufological knowledge by referring to him as “that columnist in UFO Magazine.” At the time I had a decent knowledge of the history of civilian UFO investigation organizations but I did not realize that Richard Hall had served for a decade helping the historic NICAP group (and Donald Keyhoe pictured to the right) as well as serving as Chairman of the Fund for UFO Research.

Years later, Mr. Hall was incredibly dismissive of some email list postings of mine on the previously mentioned UFO UpDates eList. All because I dared mention the Bilderberg meetings, thus branding myself a conspiracy nut and not worthy of his time. Oh well. I respected him then and I respect his legacy now.

Farewell Richard Hall! Your efforts shall be remembered.

Lunch Menu Review – Shoal Creek Saloon’s Chicken Fried Steak Monday Special

Mind Meld With Miles… Over Migas!

    Locutis of Borg

Back in the day… when I was fresh out of high-school and working at Austin’s downtown public library, my boss had a party for me. To promote the little day-job shindig she’d created a flyer with a picture of Star Trek’s Jean Luc Picard all Borged-out with the caption, “Mind Meld with Miles.” This was of course a gentle ribbing at my being such a brainy SciFi kind of guy, being into UFOs and whatnot. I still find her meme-melding of Vulcan mind-transference with cyBorgian assimilation to be rather cute, bridging the gap between Original and Next Generation Treks. Over the years that mnemonic has stayed in my mind and I’ve saved that old flyer. (I know it’s around here somewhere) The phrase has rattled around my brain and I eventually added to it with a reference to one of my favorite foods: migas! It then seemed inevitable that I would eventually write a food review column with the title “Mind Meld With Miles… Over Migas!” But it won’t be only migas reviews. In fact this first review isn’t even TexMex.

Introducing Brian Worsham and The Anomaly Television Video-of-the-Week

    ANOMALY Magazine Welcome’s Brian Worsham!

In late 2001, some friends and I were talking about our desire to see more and better quality paranormal and parapolitical TV shows on broadcast and cable television. We wanted our own Anomaly TV Network. We felt certain we had the drive, the skills, the equipment and the network of real world anomaly researchers that would be just the trick to make such dreams a reality. But things are seldom so simple as that.

Within a few years we recognized that the face of the internet was rapidly changing and that services such as YouTube, which had arrived on the scene earlier that year, were about to further revolutionize information sharing and content delivery on the internet. It took over a year for this paradigm shift to sink in but by the end of 2006 one of my good friends had the brilliant idea to start regularly blogging links to the best paranormal and parapolitical videos we could find online. So I began to post … and post and post and post, trying to find videos for every day of the week following our daily focus schedule of… Read more »

    ARG-Watch: May 2009

    Watching the ARGonauts Play

    argonot1

If you’ve followed the Elfis Network from the beginning then you know of my early interest in Alternate Reality Gaming and their potential for “mucking up the works” for paranormal and parapolitical researchers. You may also know that my interests were rekindled in 2007 by the provocative hypotheses of blogger DreamsEnd, who speculated that the mysterious suicides of artists Theresa Duncan and Jeremy Blake were some kind of sophisticated art hoax or viral marketing / alternate reality game. After a very rough period of defending his theories online, blogger DreamsEnd temporarily pulled up shop, taking down his websites. My own re-investigations into ARGland dwindled and I too went back to my normal para activities…

identityThat is until I became aware of a new blog that was following many of the threads explored by DreamsEnd; KadesKorner. Here was another blogger (with a writing style nearly identical to that found at DreamsEnd) writing about many of the themes and topics we’d been exploring during the Theremicity period: Andy Kaufman, Election Fraud, Andy Stephenson, false identities, the Franklin Coverup, the Octopus and PROMIS, Middle East parapolitics and … Theresa Duncan and ARGs! And through “Kade” I learned of a new ARG to watch out for; what has come to be called TGATT or The Great And The Terrible aka I’m Sorry. But before getting off into the I’m Sorry mindfu…, er um, ARG, let’s take a peek at some of the more interesting ARGs and Viral Marketing campaigns that have been bleeding through their alternate ARGiverse realities into our own.
