9/11 truth protests fill New York on the 8th anniversary of the worst tragedy in America’s modern history. RT’s Anastasia Churkina follows the hundreds of people who are still not getting the answers they want.

This Week’s Anomaly TeleVision Round-Up:

For you Comrades,

Because its Thursday Friday

I know, I’ve been lazy. I blame the Capitalist running dogs for sucking all the energy out of me.

But laying back a day enabled me to hear this little gem on NPR about Conde Nast publications advising GQ not to run a story by Scott Anderson in their Russian version of the magazine. The subject of Anderson’s article? Vladmir Putin’s Dark Rise to Power.  Putin’s rise from Prime Minister to President was based on his reactions to a series of “terrorist” bombings by Chechen separatists groups in 1999 that, some sources indicate, may have been orchestrated by some of Putin’s old KGB contacts. But good luck finding the story unless you happen to pick up GQ. The companies ban on printing the article abroad (at the advice of their lawyers) extends to web publication.

And while Communism in Russia may be “dead” even if the KGB style tactics aren’t, that doesn’t stop people from worrying about a new red menace right here at home. Folks like Glen Beck finding commies in every piece of art he sees. Chez Pazienza blogs about Beck’s most recent insanity with his post I see Red People at Deus Ex Malcontent.

UPDATE: Simon over at Bloggasm has alerted me of Gawker’s plans to translate the article into Russian and make it available via their site. You can read more about that decision here.

Russian translations of the first page, and scans of the article from the magazine, can be seen at Gawker here.

Feral Child found in Siberia

she-wolf_suckles_romulus_and_remus1

Reuters is reporting that Russian authorities have assumed custody of a five year old girl who has spent the majority of her life locked in an unheated flat in the Siberian city of Chita with a group of dogs and cats. The child, who authorities assume to be around five years old despite stunted growth that makes her appear to be around two years of age, is non-vocal and exhibits dog-like behavior, such as barking and jumping at doors whenever care takers leave the room. (More at Reuters.com)

The girl, who is being called “Natasha”, is far from the first documented feral child. While the mythic founders of Rome, Romulus and Remus (who legend claims were suckled by a she wolf after being saved from death by having their basket set in the Tiber River and washing ashore Moses style) are among the most famous of the feral children and Rudyard Kipling’s fictional Mowgli, from the Jungle Book, lends his name to the syndrome for children who adopt the characteristics of animals they grow up with; there are several documented cases of actual feral children. These cases include:

Peter, the Wild Boy of Hamelin

The Wild Girl of Champagne

Oxana Malaya, the dog girl of Ukraine

Traian Caldarar, the wild boy of Romania

There are also a number of children who, while not technically “feral” in the sense of being raised by animals, have been abandoned due to mental incapacity and then had the feral child myth constructed around them (such as the famous Indian “wolf girls” Amala and Kamala) or otherwise held in isolation by their parents or care-givers. In addition there are a number of unsubstantiated or poorly documented stories out of African nations , especially those savaged by years of war such as Sierra Leone and Uganda, of children raised by apes or monkeys after losing their parents.

There are also the outright hoaxes, usually of the carnival side-show variety where a physical or mental deficiency was exploited for monetary gain, however there are enough verifiable accounts to make the phenomenon an intriguing study.

Gary McKinnon Is Right

Guest Article By Harv Howard

Does anyone with any knowledge about space hardware and our government’s denial of UFOs believe that we don’t have any war vehicles or weapons in space? Are we to believe that we have nothing better aloft than the shuttle that was on the drawing boards for 10 years before it made its first flight in 1981?

Gary McKinnon, to recap the on-going saga, is fighting extradition from the UK to the US to stand trial on charges that he intentionally hacked his way into 90 US military computers and destroyed files, causing thousands of dollars in damage. He has admitted to deleting some email files but hardly to the extent of the charges.

What has attracted many observers to his case is that when he was initially charged he responded by saying he was only looking for data on UFOs. He claimed that what he found was the real reason he was being persecuted. His most amazing claim is that he found files containing the names of “spaceships.” With a bit of investigation, he claims to have determined that they were actually spaceships and not ships at sea. According to McKinnon, the files were not in themselves exciting, but contained routine information such as details of crew rotations for the ships, etc.

BRITISH SCIENTISTS HUNT LIVING CAVEMEN IN RUSSIAN MOUNTAINS

A group of scientists from the British-based Center for Fortean Zoology, the world’s largest mystery animal research organisation, are to travel to the Caucasus Mountains of the Southwest Russian republic of Karbadino Balkaria in search of what may be mankind’s closest living relative; a hominid known as the Almasty.

The three week expedition is being filmed by October Films for UK Channel 4 television, and by the team themselves for a feature length documentary to be broadcast, for free, on the CFZtv multimedia website, the only dedicated cryptozoological web based TV station in the world.
